What's with the  after upgrading?

The last two upgrades I've done, to 1.66 and now 1.7 I get a "Â " after every "." in all my content. What's with that and is there an easy way to get rid of them without editing all the content separately? THX.

Thanks.  (This looks like a common enough situation that if I was clever enough I'd write a utility to share which would clean it up automagically.  :) )
