UPGRADE 0.9.2 TO 1.6.7

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

0.9.2 is a VERY old release, over 4 years old.
As a result we do not test with upgrading from such old releases.

I suggest you restore your system from backup and ensure it is working, then upgrade in stages.
I would suggest:
  1) Reading ALL of the release notes from ALL of the intermediate versions to see what has changed and where
you may experience compatibility issues, and write these down.

  2) Upgrade in stages
to say version 1.0,  1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and then 1.6.7.... AND any versions from your step above that may result in compatibility
issues that need to be resolved.

      at each step:
      a) backup the entire system and the database
      b) validate that the system works as intended, and make any adjustments necessary.

  3) Once complete.... do yet another backup.

Unfortunately, that's all of the advice we can give you...

Hello calguy1000,

Thank you for your support.

I am doing this upgrade from my client. I am actually now restoring back the database and the files and i was guessing i should do it step by step. Hopefully it would work but it will take some time too :-(

If needed i will post here my steps if all will work fine for anyone who might face the same.

What's the general rule of thumb for how old an upgrade you can do? For example, I have a couple of sites on 1.5.4... Can any 1.5.* version upgrade to any 1.6.* version? When a new release is made, how many versions back is the upgrade process tested?

Upgrading from 1.5.4 to 1.6.7 isn't a problem.
Two things I think: be shure the Content Type in the page editor isn't used for Album or Guestbook. Use {tag} in the page content.
And in the News template: formatpostdate is changed in postdate
Ohh, and Reset Profiles in TinyMCE to let the toolbar show again.

This week I did an upgrade from 1.3 to 1.6.7 in one time... No problems.

Regards, Rolf

Out of sheer paranoia, I do the upgrade completely on the side (new directory, new database), then rotate it in when it passes my tests.
