[SOLVED] First time logging in is slow (5 minutes +)

Hello,

I seem to have strange problem. The first time I or anyone else logs into to the admin interface it takes 5+ minutes for the admin to log me in. Afterward all log ins are speedy for the rest of the day. It doesn't see to care about browser or os. The rest of the site works great. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using:
mysql 5.75
ubuntu karmic
php 5
CMS Made Simple 1.6.6
Apache 2

Try going to "Site Admin" -> "Global Settings" and enter "none" (without the quotes) in the "Check for new CMS versions using this URL:" section. This will stop your web server from contacting CMSms to see if there are new versions. This fixed the same issue in my installations.

yes a so long delay can be caused by the fact the server(or firewall etc) don't allow outgoing connection.

The tip above from wishbone should fix this.
