Products - images and categoriefields

Hi,

i've just installed a fresh CMSMS with Products module but facing some problems setting up the categories and articles.
In my testing scenario i've created 2 categories (cars, ships) these categories i gave different categoriefileds: cars: no. of wheels, make; ships: length, height.

Now my problem are
1. if i create a new article (f.e. Ferrari F40 - what is a car) and check the categorie in the selectbox - i don't see the additional fields for the category "cars"
2. how do i add images to an article??

my environment is:

PHP 5.2
CMSMS 1.6.6
Products 2.3.1 (also tested with 2.4.6)
CGExtensions 1.17.6
CGSimpleSmarty 1.4.3

First you are talking about the product manager right?

Fields are universal across all products. If you go to Product Manager and then click the "Field Definitions Tab" you will add ALL fields that are options here.

Now if you are only calling certain optional fields in two separate templates that will work, but first the fields must be added to Field definitions.

Yes i saw these fileds - these i didn't meant.
But i think i was wrong in my thought because the categoryfields are only to extend the possible informations/data for the category itself and not for the included products - am i right now??
I was thinking that this is a kind of VirtueMarts producttypes where you could add different additional fields for different producttypes.

Is there a way do have this option (different additional fields for different producttypes) in Products too (or in cataloger, shopmadesimple, etc.)? With all modules i've tried, i only could add fields for ALL producttypes.
