Newsletter Made Simple not sending emails [solved]

I have installed CMSMS onto a windows 2008 server, all seems to work fine appart from NMS.

I can do everything like create newsletters, add email addresses but when I click process jobs it just sits at initializing and doesnt budge.  When I close the window and try to use CMSMS it seems to have crashed and I need to restart the server.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Have you tested CMSMailer to make sure it woks before trying to send NMS...

This has happened to me a couple of times - in both cases I uninstalled and reinstalled and it all worked fine again.

If you do this don't forget to export your user list first so you can reimport again

Actually no CMSMailer is not working. It did work the first time I tried it. Should I be using SMTP on a windows 2008 server?

I have also tried removing and reinstalling NMS (including earlier versions) with no success

I have tried changing the server from localhost to a smtp server and used the auth username/password and it seems to work now.
