File size upload limits

Post by Mike@cmsms »

I just finished installing CMSMS on my local Windows machine. First I'd like to say that the intructions for installing it are outstanding although I had already installed Apache, PHP, and MySql separately and didn't need  WAMP. If all the documentation is this good it's going to be a pleasure to play with CMSMS.

I did change the file size upload limits to the recommended settings in the php.ini file. 10 M seems like a pretty high limit to me. Will most shared hosting accounts allow your users to upload and post 10 M files? I'm assuming this would be for allowing users to upload images. My tendency would be to have a notice that users should reduce the file size to 500 KB or less before uploading. I hope I'm not misunderstanding this or asking a stupid question here.

I look forward to playing with and learning CMSMS. It looks like it may be a better solution for a lot of the websites I would hope to develop.

You can install modules and upload big files over ftp, so limit "max_upload_size" to the value you want.
In my experiance, if you will not limit "max_upload_size" you will end up with lots of pictures of size as big as 4MB and pages about 100MB each :D.
