MySQL Backup to Install in diferent server

I made a backup of MySQL data.
Making a new installation on a different server, can I used this backuo information?
Somebody here with experience?

I make this question, since I want to be sure if I made a "BAckup" of all the files in HTML Area, and the SQL database, can I install again if something happend with the server or if I change hosting company?

Also, what is the best way to made the SQL BAckup?
What type to export?
