Set CHMOD correctly

Post by opawaldburger »

Hi you all!

I've got a question concerning the safety of a site. My website got hacked about three months ago. Fortunately my provider made a Back-Up of all files before. However, I don't need to happen this again because it's nasty anyway.
My provider said that the weak point was that I set the file tmp/index.html to chmod 777 and I should chance it at least to 664. But is that enough? I tried to chance every file on the server to 664, but afterwards my site didn't work any more.

Any suggestions would be very nice.

Greetings from Austria,
Toby

Have you tried 755 or 775, config should be 444, have you read the documentation on permissions?...

Hi Dr.!

I made the changes described in the documentary... but I don't know if that's all I can do. Are there further suggestions? Has anyone already made experience that his site got hacked? What was the problem and how have you fixed it?

Thanks Dr. CSS for now!

Greez,
Toby
