Confused : Missing the obvious with Content Blocks?

Set up your template with the desired number of content blocks:

{content} //must exist for the system to work correctly
{content block="right_top"}
{content block="right_center"}
{content block="right_bottom"}

This will put four content areas on each page that is associated with this template.

Then use the Custom Dropdown feature in TinyMCE to insert the desired Global Content Block.
