Where is apache.conf (for custom error pages)?

Post by ncd »

Another newbie here!

I've got cmsms running nicely on a shared hosting account and I'm trying to set up Custom Error Messages for Errors 401, 403, and 404, and I'm requested to edit apache.conf - but for the life of me I cannot find it anywhere amongst the files and folders that I uploaded to the server!?

It's probably somewhere else all together for all I know!  ::)

Assistance is much appreciated!
Cheers,
Nick

I assume, if it's a shared hosting account, that you do not have root (server administrator) access to the server. If that is the case, you will not be able to set your own error pages, unless you have the facility to insert .htaccess files in your root folder. Have a look
here (general configuration), here (htaccess configuration),  here (htaccess 'how-to') or here (custom errors).
