Re: savornin lohman plein
Very nice!! Lovely clean cut design. Two remarks though:
first: I clicked Giorgio's (knowing you made that one too) and it opens in the same page, so people actually leave the site. Why not open external links in a new window? This is, of course, a very personal choice, I am just curious what made you decide to have it open in the same window (and people actually need to use the back button to return).
second: I could not find a link to your own website (f.e. design by: blablabla) ... Wouldn't you like to attract customers for your web design services?
But all in all.... super mooi gedaan Jeroen! Heb nog iets anders, maar dat PM ik je wel ff.
regards,
Anne-Mieke

Yes, it is a lovely, clean and elegant design.
@compufairy, the general practice is to open links in the same window, not a separate window. People know to use their browser's back button to return to the original site. The thought that they will leave the site nevermore to return is balderdash. If you have an engaging site, your readers will stay, and they will return.
Another compelling reason to open links in the same window is for the benefit of those using screen readers. Do not ever take away or hijack the browser's back button.
Here are some links to the pros and cons of both practices.

Hi Pixelita,
Thanks
In all this time I never thought of the screen readers (which again proves I am more a designer than a developer). I appreciate the links and infos!
