X3M Media website - first aplication with cmsms

Post by voxberry »

Hello pplz .

Here is my first application (first that is online) using cmsms .

X3M Media - http://www.x3m-media.ro

Using CMSMS 1.6
Modules : News and Comments .
Also using Pretty URLS and some other java scripts and ajax technology .

Any comments or even 'flames' are welcomed, so please do, I need some feedback .

I'm still testing stuff, but it should be finished . Hoping to make new websites on cmsms as soon as I get some new customers :)

have a very nice day .

Very purdy!!!! Love the bright colors, not too many, just enough to make it crisp and fresh.  With this site you should be able to garner quite a bit of new business.  One thing, though, and this might be a language thing?  PortOfolio? Shouldn't that be Portfolio? (Everything else is in English, so I'm thinking that might be a typo?

Otherwise, great job!!

One more thing, on your web design blog, it looks like you are indeed using Blogs Made Simple.  How easy was that to set up as opposed to using something like WordPress? I've shied away from using CMSMS when my clients want a blog in addition to their web site because I hadn't heard too many positive things about the Blogs Made Simple module. Thoughts?

hello .
first of all, thanks for the posts, i really need some feedback .
about portOfolio .... I will change that :) .

I do NOT use blogs made simple module . as I said in the first post, I only use News module and Comments ..

I would love a module that has all the blog addons .... untill then, I will just use the news module with comments .

thanks again for the comments :)

Well what are you using for the blog aspect of the site? I didn't see WP there, I peeked at the code.  Also, there's a new blog module that I'm itching to try, called CGBlogs.  Hopefully it's not as fraught with bugs and such as BMS was.

hah ... well it's really no blog there, just the news and the comments modules .

I have tryed all other blog modules and I just can't find something that works better then this . so untill there are new blog modules, i will just use this combination .

As for the aspect, it's just my template :) . it just looks like a blog :).

thanks again for the feedback pplz .

Nice colours etc, however, the header doesn't match the horizontal centering you have for the rest of the site... I know why u haven't centered the header (because of the brush image), so I would left align the body/content of the site to match.

Also, although the image is nice, perhaps scale the brush image down in size a little, I am running 1920 x 1200 and even then the content starts two thirds down the page. Scale back the branding of your site a little and focus more on the content.

I find using a grid template / system helps. With your current design, your content starts well below the fold.

Test your site in 1024 x 768 / 1280 x 1024.

Also, in your left hand menu, it still says 'portofolio' ;)

One last thing, it may be just my personal preference, but I don't think the white overlay when a page loads adds anything to either the design or functionality. Let people see the page while its loading, I don't need the whole page to be loaded to start using it. For me, its more of a 'here's something I know how to do' type of inclusion. In my opinion, save a few kb and get rid of it.

Lastly, pay a little more attention to your typography. A little more leading in the body copy would be perfect.

Otherwise, looking good.

thanks for the review . I will take in consideration this ...
SO the header and logo will be smaller as I see people telling me about it... seems i'm the only one ok with this... :)

as for the loading ... this was put there because on some very weak connections, it takes a long time until the picture loads, so this was a fix .

anyway, thanks a lot for your comments. will post back when I do the changes :) .
