Editing a page with 1.6.x: restore the "Template" droplist

Post by jsmonzani »

For people editing pages and wondering why the “Template” droplist isn’t there anymore in version 1.6.x

If, like me, you didn’t liked the moving of the “Template” droplist from the Main page editing tab to the Advanced tab, here’s how to fix it: go to Site Admin, click Advanced Setup and check Template in the Basic Properties list. Your template will now appear back into the main tab when you edit the page.

This took me some time to figure it out by digging into the source code  ;D I hope it will help you.

This has been explained earlier ;)

The main-tab and the options-tab of an page are driven by different permissions.

With the basic-properties in the GlobalSettings->Advanced tab, you can set, what options can be used, without having the extra "Manage All Content" permission.

So if you want them on the first page, and are not hindered by autorisation, then you can put the fields on the main-tab....

Thanks Ronny. Yes, I've understood that by myself :)

Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the explanation about this feature and therefore lost time digging for it ;D
