CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
Hi. Ok so I ws running 1.6 but upgraded to 1.6.4to see if this would fix my issue but it hasn't. So I'm now running 1.6.4, with php 5 on apachie and MySQL 4.1.22 (patched).
So now my balable about the problem:
The problem is when the user adds content to an existing page. The content will only update once, then any further changes that are made are not updating on the front end but are in the back end or admin side. Sometimes this content will update after a while, i'm not sue how long, more than 10min anyway. I've tried loging of and back on again before and after making changes to see if that would force the update but this has no effect. It effects all aspects of content, including template and style sheets.
So I Asked that host company fit hey could find a problem and they say:
Alot of cms issues with problems logging in, or products are not updating is because the cms is trying to connect to an external server, so the ip needs adding the firewall rules, could you investigate this with the cms supplier and see if the backend connects to any external ip's ?
So Could this be the problem? If so what is this mysterious ip address?
I'm a bit of a block-head at the best of times and new to cmsms so I may need you to explane things express simply... flash cards always help.
Thanks
Alex

Re: CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
There is a check made, from Global Settings, where the URL for newer-version is made. This can be stopped by putting the word 'none' in the URL.

Re: CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
hi The above sugestion got the cmsms to work faster but it has not solved my problem. Pages/temples/css files are only editable once after they have been created. Than i need to wait to the next day to chaenge that spelling mistake or whatever. It is becoming extremely frustrating and now the cms is just counter productive.
Re: CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
Strange, but this has suddenly happened with one of my CMSMS installs. Using an older version, but the same issues: site won't update on the public front-end site? The content is always there in the WYSIWYG fields (even after submit, the next day, etc), must be in the database, but doesn't display on the front-end?
Is this a server issue? It's difficult to know where investigations should start?

Re: CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
Is the installation a default CMSMS installation, or are CORE-files modified?

Mine is default, no modifications with CORE.
Re: CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
Found a fix that worked for me on another thread:
http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 509.0.html
Basically says, rename your templates_c DIR and create a new one, making sure you set the correct permissions.

Re: CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
Ok I tried the above fix and I found that the content will only update on the front end if the cash is cleared after each edit. Could this be a File permission issue? I don't know what the file permissions should be.
I'm using a core install on a Apache server.
thanks for your time.

Re: CMSMS version 1.6 and 1.6.4 with slow to load contnet
Hi Zander187,
It looks like a Permission/Ownership problem. Read: http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... l#msg44063
When you look in Extentions >> Modules, do you see statements like Cannot Remove and Change Permissions?
And I should increase the PHP_memory_limit in the config.php, but I don't think thats the problem here...
