Statistics, Visitor Stats and CTLModuleMaker

Hi-
Is there a way to track the individual items from a module made with ctlmodulemaker?

I have installed the visitor stats module, which is able to track specific urls hit by a visitor.  It's great to see who went where and what order, but an unwieldy visual mess (especially as i'm not using pretty urls).

Statistics does a nice job of representing a wider variety of information, but i haven't been able to get it to track individual items, only the page that calls the ctlmodule.  I have tried adding the {Statistics} tag to my final item template with no result.

Any ideas?
