add dynamic content

I am just learning a bit of PHP and mySql and have created some .php files to populate and retrieve results from a database.

What is the best way to integrate this in a CMSMS site?  Is it better to add a table to the current cmsms database or better create a new database?  is this easily done withing CMSMS?

I have created some dynamic content within CMSMS but using the News module so the result is a list with name and date ordered by date.  This is not the original purpose of the news module but does the job nicely.

I would like to try the correct way to retrieve information from a database but obvioulsy need a but of guidance for this.

May be a nice way to "integrate" this with CMSms is providing it as a module or plugin ? As you say, there are "template" modules like skeleton, news, products...
