[SOLVED] Can't access administration - 404 error

Post by jakub7 »

Hi all,

Please forgive me if you find my problem unrelated to cmsms itself.

I tried to do an upgrade (1.6.3 to 1.6.5) using my MaxBook but was experiencing many errors from the ftp client. Later I found the ftp client deleted many files (some directories were empty). I used my backup to write my old files in place. But since then I can't access administration. It gives me 404 error. And I have no idea why. The rest of the web works fine.

After some experimenting I found that when I delete index.php in the admin folder, I receive a standard message "Directory has no index file". But when I put the index.php back, a 404 shows again. I tried to delete the whole admin folder adn replace with the one from original cmsms installation (1.6.3). I tried to reinstall cmsms 1.6.3 including database. Nothing helps.

I can't even run checksum as this forwards me to ./admin/login.php and that gives me 404 as well. Debug is no help either. There are no errors on the pages that generate..

Any hint?

Thanks in advance!

edit: for a test I uploaded index.html in the admin directory and it got loaded so there is an access to that directory from the server...

[SOLVED] OK this is very strange. Sorry for waisting your time.
The problem was in the folder permissions. I tried to set those earlier without success. However now when this was done from the backend of the hosting, it work. Permissions set to 750 for the admin directory. I have no idea how the permissions had been changed..
