Restoring from mysql backup after cmsmadesimple files deleted by hacker!

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Restoring from mysql backup after cmsmadesimple files deleted by hacker!

Post by willygrigg »

Hi,

I was foolish enough to not have a backup of my site and last week, the entire thing was erased by a hacker.

The mysql database is intact.
Is it possible to install cmsmadesimple, then restore the cms db from a backup and have at least some of my site back? (I'm assuming I'd have to re-up the images).

Anyone know about doing this? I tried searching the forum, but couldn't find anything related.

I'm having a hard time finding out what version of cmsms I had loaded. the table cms_version has 29 for version.  I think I installed around April or May of 2008.

Thanks,

The 29 refers to the DB schema so you would have to start with a release from around the time you think you installed it before and see what it comes up with for the schema, you might want to do a subfolder install to do your checking in, once you figure out what version it is you can import the DB over that one and you should have your site back...

I always keep any version of cmsms that I've installed on my computer, packed and unpacked, I have some dating back to march 2006...
