Is there a way that I can have an email notification go out to subscribers (front-end users would be preferable) when I make an update on my blog or News? I've been working with the CGBlog, Blog, and News modules and none of them seem to offer this feature.
I may be overlooking it, but this feature is critical to my setup.

You have the option to use CGFeedMaker which allows you to do RSS feeds (even has default templates for a few of the modules you mentioned.
To send emails you can use Newsletter Made Simple. However it does not have direct integration to Front End Users. But it allows you to import user information from FEU.
