News module - m1_moduleform_1 modify and form option

I have updated this post as I have sorted a few things (stupid errors on my part) but the main issue remains for anyone that can help! For the meantime I am running with some compromises.

Had no joy searching the forums so hope this is the right place.  I love the flexibility of the News module but have a couple of issues that are about the 'core' and not just things I can tweak myself.

I use News for different purposes and for different editors and right now the add article form id="m1_moduleform_1" is getting pretty confusing.  How could I create alternate versions of this and associate these with different "categories".  For example a "General News" category item calls form id="m1_moduleform_1", whereas "Match Report" category item calls form id="m1_moduleform_2"

Secondly, can I use cms_date_format in place of $postdatetext in the articlelist.tpl (this has a default US date format) and if so how?

Running 1.6 "New Caledonia" on current projects and am loving it?
