Unwanted URL endings with mod_rewrite in News module

Hello,

I'm using mod_rewrite method for clean URLs, but have some problems with the News module - it ads unwanted "d,article_main/" to the end and quotation mark symbols (U+201E (8222), U+201C (8220)) „“ remain unstriped.
It strips only "".

So I get URL like this:
http://www.example.com/news/131/52/%EF% ... icle_main/

My CMS - 1.5.3 "Arecibo". Should I use any hack there with mod_rewrite or php to remove ending and strip quotation symbols ?
