installation problems ----- please help

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

just to be clear and helpful, by localhost you mean your computer, right? What program are you using? XAMPP? That program is the one that will give you the answers. Look for a control panel, mySQL control, phpMyAdmin, Admin section, etc. For XAMPP, address is localhost, database name is the name of the database that you create manually first, username by default is root, and password is by default blank.

Meanwhile, a small search effort would reveal a page like this: http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/User_Handbook/Installation/Quick_Install/Install_on_Local_Windows_PC

Hmmmm, at a quick guess ...

Database host address = http://localhost
Database name  = only you know this one
Username = root
Password = to access MySQL etc most probably it's blank/empty, but for CMSMS it will be what you designated/chose during install
