Big Site Problems

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Big Site Problems

Post by upwithit »

Hi there.
A website I built using CMSMS v1.31 last summer was functioning just fine until about a week ago.  Upon trying to view the site, I instead received a series of "Smarty Errors" related to unrecognized tags.  I took a look at the admin area and noticed, on both the navigation menus and on the main admin screen, new items beginning with "AddMe" (please see attached screenshot).
I went ahead and deleted the contents of templates_c, which at least brought some of the site's visuals back, but still with many errors.
I decided to upgrade to the latest version, but the Smarty errors remain!  Please help.
Upon viewing the site now (post upgrade), I get this error at the top of the page:

string(118) "Smarty error: [in tpl_head:22 line 3]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'sitename' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590)" string(115) "Smarty error: [in tpl_head:22 line 3]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'title' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590)" string(118) "Smarty error: [in tpl_head:22 line 4]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'metadata' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590)" string(118) "Smarty error: [in tpl_body:22 line 21]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'content' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590)" string(115) "Smarty error: [in tpl_body:22 line 25]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'menu' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590)" string(125) "Smarty error: [in tpl_body:22 line 31]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'global_content' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 590)"

followed by the site's template but missing the content.

I am currently running CMSMS version 1.5.4, PHP 4, MySQL 4.1.25, on Apache 2.0.54.

I don't think this is related to any incomplete file uploading, as the site was functioning properly prior to this happening.  I had hoped the upgrade would fix things but it hasn't.  Any help would be VERY appreciated.

Thank you!

Did you try to verify the files, using MD5?

Site Admin -> System Verification

Also paste system information report here

When I try to do the System Verification, I get this error:

string(53) "Smarty error: unable to read resource: "checksum.tpl""

And when I try to do the System Info, I get this:

string(55) "Smarty error: unable to read resource: "systeminfo.tpl""

Corrupt files? deleted files? See if the files realy are in their respective dirs...  Changed permissions on server?

Just made another attempt to upgrade and again, I'm getting the same errors.  Also - as I go through the upgrade process, I see this:

You have some problem but check first if you have all files.

Upload cmschecksum.php (is in install folder) in root folder of your installation.
Download from Download page your relative checksum dat (base or full)
Run via browser www.site.com/cmschecksum.php, browse your checksum dat file and send
Look for errors and try to correct them
