[solved]Directory not writable!

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved]Directory not writable!

Post by aragornmouf »

Hello,

I'm trying to install cms made simple, but I get this error message
"Directory not writable! /home/waterfro/cms/tmp/templates_c
Please correct by executing: chmod 777 or set writing permission for php process, exiting! "

Which would be no problem, except that my server doesn't allow chmod 777 under any circumstances. So how do I set writing permission for php process? If someone can tell me how to do that, it would be great  ;D

thanks in advance

edit: Or if there is another work around that would be fine with me too.

From http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... ck_Install :
"Notice : some hosting contexts may need the modules directory be chmoded 755 (or 775) instead of 777".
This may be true for other directories also.
Hope it helps.
