Hi,
I have seen some topics of the forum where it is mentioned that some users were banned. So, my question:
Is a user warned before a moderator decides to ban him. If yes, how much times?
Is the criticizing of moderators strong enough reason to ban a forum user?
Regards,
Vilkis
Does the forum have a rule for bannig users?
Re: Does the forum have a rule for bannig users?
The only cases I´ve seen that the moderator did not warn the users was because they were spammers.
I know that most of the discussions about user behavior and warnings takes places at the IRC channel.
I think there is not a "number of times", but good sense and respect to determine an actions like that.

Re: Does the forum have a rule for bannig users?
To date there hasn't been a set of rules or guidelines to specify when a user is or isn't banned.
As mentioned above the only time I have seen a user banned immediately is if they are spamming or if they are another user that was banned and tried to come back and stir up the chicken coup like a pack of wolves.
In order to get banned you almost have to try. Those that haven't been spammers and have been banned are users that blatantly did not follow the rules in the read me, attacked others (not just moderators) and just flat out didn't listen.
While the community is always up for constructive criticism, keep in mind that is how it needs to stay. Constructive. Flying off the handle and taking personal attacks against anyone generally isn't tolerated. As long as others don't keep egging people on if you sense a bit of hostility, everyone will be ok. While the dev team and moderators try to be diplomatic it essentially comes down to a personal decision.
Essentially it comes down to this. Play nice with everyone... even if you don't agree with them. You can discuss your differences, but be polite and don't beat the situation like a dead horse.

Re: Does the forum have a rule for bannig users?
What does spamming mean? If user post a lot of lines of code in the forum does it mean he is spamming (I have in my mind the user pb)?
I have another question: is ban permanent or just temporary? Is a chance taken for user to change his behavior?
I feel that one of moderators practices such an action against some users.tyman00 wrote: Flying off the handle and taking personal attacks against anyone generally isn't tolerated.

Re: Does the forum have a rule for bannig users?
1. Spamming is not posting too many lines of code. It is posting links to websites that aren't related to CMSMS to get better Search Engine Ranking or to get people to visit the site. It is a lot like Spam Emails. If you are a legit user (like you and me for example) and you are posting information that actually relates to CMSMS, you will be fine as far as spamming goes.
2. As mentioned these moderators are generally open to suggestions and ideas, but you have to properly communicate them ideas to those people and you need to understand that your solutions and ideas are not always the best for the whole community or the project. Sometimes these changes may fix one problem for 1% of the community but it causes problems for 90% of the community. You just need to be diplomatic and understand that you will have the best results if you properly share the information, do not demand changes and try to work with the developers to work on changes instead of expecting them to implement something that may cause more problems than it fixes.
3. Generally the ban is permanent. This also depends on how the user behaved and what they did to get banned. There have been some users that have been banned and have come back, others have not come back and have moved on to smear the image of the whole project because they didn't agree with a few people. Mainly the attacked the project because their feelings were hurt because they were called out while being a jerk.
