I have installed the latest version of cmsms and I am trying to make a few changes to the banner module. However the file permissions on the folder wont let me over write any of the files and it wont let me CHMOD them or delete them.
I have the same problem for all of the modules that are installed including the default ones.
Did I do something wrong in the installation process? How can I edit these files?
If anyone could help I would be very greatful as I can't really do anything at the moment and I have a site I need to build!
Thank you
Rachael

You don't say if you installed with FTP and new install with ModuleManager, or you have installed with Host Panael and new install with FTP, or .....rlparker25 wrote: sorry scratch that, I only get the permissions problem with new modules I install.

Try to change permissions with your FTP client or ask to your provider

Re: module file permissions
Hi, thanks for the quick reply
I installed it via the ftp manager. I have tried to change the permissions both via my ftp client and by SSH but it wont let me.
As a tempory solution I renamed the Banners folder and re-uploaded it again with my changes. Although I still can't delete the renamed folder!

Strange that you renamed but not delete ....rlparker25 wrote: As a tempory solution I renamed the Banners folder and re-uploaded it again with my changes. Although I still can't delete the renamed folder!
And "ftp manager" is? your client or host tool? Strange that you write with this "ftp manager" and cannot delete

Re: module file permissions
Try to change the permission from your site control panel. I encountered this issue on my site as well, and i noticed that the server has taken extra percautious in the folder permission settings, sometimes you will have to go to the control panel or ask the hosting server to change the folder permission.
As far as the older modules, since you have existing permission set up from before, that's why things are working for ya.
Hope this helps.

Re: module file permissions
Thanks, I ended up having to get the hosting company to delete the old folders and change some permissions for me!
