Templating Question

Post by snute2008 »

Hi, I came across the CMSMS site yesterday and have been reading the forum postings.  It looks very impressive.  I need to redesign my companies website and I am really interested in CMSMS.  The current site is buildin Typo3 but I think it is overkill.  I do have some questions regarding the templates if you don't mind.

The new site needs to have different sections that are different colors although the layouts for each section would be the same.

My questions are:

1 - I assume that I would need different templates for each layout and also for each color variation.

2 - Say I have a template with 3 columns with the menu in the left the content in the middle and something else in the right is it possible to have different layouts within the middle column for example the first paragraph is the width of the middle then underneath is text split into 2 columns and then content with an image covering the full width etc etc

I really appreciate your help to confirm that I am on the right track and then I can start putting the design together.

I have also been looking at the postings of some of the paid developers and might need some commercial assistance aswell to build these templates.

Thank you very much.

If they are going to have the same boxes in all pages and you just want to change the color or ? then you can use some smarty stuff to get/put classes on the boxes, if you are going to be changing the layout drastically you may need to make a diff. template...
