Shop Made Simple / Cart Store Inventory Question

Hi,

Hopefully somebody can help me out... I've been looking at the various shopping cart modules trying to find a solution that will work with my needs. Do any of the modules allow me to set a "quantity on hand" so that an item can no longer be ordered if it is sold out?

Maybe I am missing a setting somewhere in the admin. But I was not able to find where I would enter the available quantity when adding a new product. (tested cart/products & shopmadesimple separately).

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For what it is worth, if you set the price of a product in Shop Made Simple to zero, the front end should show that the item is sold out. So a signal afterwards and only on a tricky basis.
As far as I know there are no inventory driven/related modules.

I suppose I will have to try to work out a different arrangement. I was not actually planning to use the cart as a traditional shopping cart. I need to set up the ability for students to reserve a seat to attend a class. There is one class per week and only two students may sign up per week. My hope was that I could use one of the shopping cart modules to allow them to "purchase" a spot. There would not be any fees associated, but the important aspect is that there are only 2 spots available each week, so my plan was to have each week listed as a product with a quantity of 2 available. It works on a first come, first served basis, so I would need the product to become "unavailable" if two students had already confirmed for that particular week.

Thank you for confirming that there is indeed no inventory management feature associated with these modules.

If anyone has any suggestions of a module that may already exist that may work for this situation, I would be very interested.
