Improve Reorder Pages tool
Improve Reorder Pages tool
Hi
I have been looking at several CMS's and have used CMS Made Simple on a new intranet site. Whilst comparing various systems i came across silverstripe (demo at http://demo.silverstripe.com/ ).
One nice feature it has, compared to sms made simple is that its list of pages and menu is displayed in a tree view (like windows explorer) and it is very easy to rearrange pages and the menu.
I know CMS made simple has the reorder functionality (which doesn't work fully in IE 6) but the silverstripe version seems more intuiative and easier to use if you have a lot of pages.
Any chance of a treeview page reorder tool for cms made simple?

Re: Improve Reorder Pages tool
I agree
What it needs is a javascript drag&drop function for the treeview and at the best also the possibility to sort one level of children in a natural order (alphabetically) e.g. in the dropdown.
I also searched long time for a good CMS after I struggled hour after hour with the not that good code of sandoba's ContentPapst. By the way CMSms is compared with SilverStripe much more easy to use and quicker for developement to my mind.

There is a drag and drop function with tree view.
Go to Content > Pages and click on the Reorder Pages button at the top and bottom of the page. You can reorder entire sections or individual pages.

If you have 30 items ahead, that's very uncomfortable

Not sure I follow
Edit: I honestly like the CMSMS re-ordering over the SilverStripe. You can move whole sections at a time with CMSMS. SilverStripe (from my quick tests) only moves the one page and not the Children.

Re: Improve Reorder Pages tool
I use FF3 and I am able to move sections/parents around and move pages around. You aren't able to move a page from one parent to another parent.

Re: Improve Reorder Pages tool
Yeah figures... it works in FF but not IE... I have talk about this before and thought I put a BR in... man I got to say we need to stop ingoring IE so much... I hate it too... but it's the king borwser... my clients never use FF... sigh.. lead a horse water yes?

Re: Improve Reorder Pages tool
I am not surprised. I would check to see if the bug is still open and if not maybe open it again. I agree that IE shouldn't be ignored... evil as it is. However this may not be one of those "easy to fix" IE bugs.

Re: Improve Reorder Pages tool
Confirmed that you can only move the "Top-Parent" section and none of the inside content including individual pages. http://screencast.com/t/a8oSyxlW

In 1.5.X there is a older version of scriptacolous and prototype.
I think that in 1.6 with latest versions should be better for IE
