Parse error on install, Step 2

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Parse error on install, Step 2

Post by xor »

I've installed and then gone to my site. Step 1 says everything was successful, but on clicking to go on to Step 2 I get an error message.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in ... modules/LinkBlog/modulefunctions.php on line 82

I created the database and user through phpMyAdmin (which is what I get with my host) but I couldn't create them with the exact name 'cms' and 'cmsuser' because my host changes the names to prefix with my account name. Would this be causing the problem?

Any ideas what might be causing this and how I could fix it, I would much appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,
Donna

It seems that a couple of my files did not completely upload, this is what was causing the problem. The file in the error message was truncated. I re-uploaded them and Step 2 went fine. Now I'm stuck on step 3, database connection failure. Arg!
