Module(s) Suggestions please.

I need a little help with Modules suggestions for a specific project. I've done a few websites with "basic" modules (News, Form, Photo Gallery) but this one require a little more and would welcome your suggestions.

My friend want to create a website where:
1) People register and when accepted the user can login via the front end of the website
2) People will be adding content (a Dog) into one of the 3 main categories (for ex. Blue Dog, Red Dog, Green Dog)
3) The content (Dog) will consist of: text, photos (located at a specific places in the page), and a pedigree*
4) The user can only modify his/her own content but not other users
5) The user has control only of his/her files (text, photos, etc) and no other users (except Admin) can modify the content.

*Pedigree: basically this is like a table/form/chart where the user would insert the Dog's name, the dog's Sire, the Dog's dam, etc. for up to 4 or 5 generations. see and example at http://www.pedigreequery.com/generator/
