Ok, I am having a weird problem. I am my own host. Running cpanel on fedora core with php 5.2.8 and mysql 4.1.22.
I can run CMSMS 1.5 and older all day long with no issues. As soon as I do a fresh install of 1.5.1 or 1.5.2 or even an upgrade, the admin side loads soooo slow. I am talking 183 Sec PER CLICK no matter what I choose. Front end side, works like a champ!
Any ideas?? It is not a module causing this because it happens on the initial installs as well.
Help! I want to use some of the modules designed for 1.5.1, but can't bear the slow admin side.

What changed? 1.5 -> 1.5.2 SLOW SLOW SLOW admin
Re: What changed? 1.5 -> 1.5.2 SLOW SLOW SLOW admin
Do you have an error log? it should be accessible from your PHP folder.

See if this helps.
1) Open Global Settings
2) For the option-> Check for new CMS versions using this URL:
3) Type in the word "none" (without the quotes) in the entry field.

Also affects cmsmadesimple, version 1.5.4
Thank you very much, this immediately solved the horrible slowness of my brand-new install of CMSMS. (I have no prior experience or content creation with this software.)
Dell PowerEdge 2900 / Xeon E5335 Quad 2 ghz / 8 gigabytes RAM
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2
VMWare Server 1.0.8
VM: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop, 1 CPU, 512 meg RAM, 8 gig VDisk
aptitude:
- apache2
- php5
- libapache2-mod-php5
- mysql-server
- php5-gd
- libapache2-mod-python
cmsmadesimple-1.5.4.tar.gz
Admin pages on the brand new install were taking 60 seconds or more to load, but the Ubuntu Gnome Process Manager shows the system is idle at 3% CPU load or less all the time.
Adding "none" to the version check field in Global Settings instantly took effect, and the admin pages now pop open immediately.
