Search Form padding problem

Search Form padding problem

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how can I make the search input box padding to 0. I want the search box to fit a height of 23. I did all the coding properly but what screws up everything is the  {$startform} and {$endform} tag, which somehow, put some extra height.
