problem with google - i do not want my threads on this forum to be on google!

Post by EllaGuru »

I am  running CMS Made Simple 1.2.4 , mySQL version 4.1.22 and php 4.4.5.

Can someone at CMSMS please delete ALL of my queries referring to
"J*ney H*gger" or www.j*neyh*gger.co.uk? Now when my client, J*ney H*gger, googles herself she see the CMSMS forums which is NOT what we want the public to see when they google her!

(This time I have replaced the As with * so THIS thread does not alos get goggled!)

Thank you
nhaack

Go back to your posts and change the URLs. Then you can request delisting of your clients pages with google webmaster tools and have them indexed again. References should by gone by then. Depending on the popluarity of your clients site this can be done within a few days or weeks.

You might want to increase backlinks and such to prevent the CMSMS Forum Threads to become to top hits.

You can go to your profile, and view the "past posts" you made. You can modify them there, in terms of removing the URL to the site you mentioned...

ok, i see now, the list of posts where I was looking didn't have an edit button, only reply and notify. But I found it now.

Thanks for your speedy answers!

I am getting ready to do at least one more site with CMSMS so will no doubt have more questions (or we can hope not..)

Additionally, the fact that the forum results popup first in the SERP (search engine results page) is an index that your client's site is not fully listed yet. Is the site itself in the google index already (if not, this issue will mostly solve itself in a couple of days)?

I thank part of the problem is that the domain name is on a different server to the site.

I went to the google webmaster tool, and failed to verify both of my sites I have that have the domain name on a different server. When I tried to verify a site that was on the same server, it verified fine.

So I think it is recommended that one's domain name is on the same server as one's website. However, in this case my client wanted to continue to own their own domain name, which is on a free server, where they can not have a database. So we can not move the site to their server, and they don't want to move the domain name toi mine.

however, the OTHER site I have (not a cmsms site) that is on a similar redirect, DOES show up on google. So, I think the second redirected site will also show up on google in due course.

Thanks

It doesn't matter whether your domain name is with the same company like your hosting or not. What is the webmaster tool saying when it fails to verify? What method did you choose? File or Meta-Data?

Showing up on Google is a different story, depending on how and where you publish your domain, it may only take some hours until first results show up in google or it way take months if you just use the regular submit. I've seen it all ;)

If you want to have both (domain and server) with one provider, what about a domain transfer? That should even work with most free domain companies... (check their terms of service or contact them - it may cost a fee).
