[solved]Tinymce unavailable
[solved]Tinymce unavailable
I've been going round in circles trying to find the wysiwyg editor. I finally went back to a demo site to see what it should look like and realised there is something wrong with my installation. I have upgraded to 1.5.1 and uninstalled and reinstalled Tinymce but nothing has changed. If go to edit a page, I have boxes to enter text (or code). Text already there is using HTML code. Underneath is a checkbox to turn wysiwyg editor on/off. However it makes no difference if I have the tick there or not. I do not get the toolbar for Tinymce and I do not get formatted text. Can you help me get this working?

Re: Tinymce unavailable
Make sure it's not a permissions error. See the wiki:

I wonder if there's a page somewhere that lists what all the perms should be? Seems I see a lot of these errors, sometimes apparently cropping up on their own.

Thanks Videx.
It was a permissions error. Changed the modules folder to 755 and it worked. Thanks very much.

I had the same problem and it was solved by changing the permissions on the modules directory from 777 to 755. Thanks.Videx wrote: Make sure it's not a permissions error. See the wiki:

Re: [solved]Tinymce unavailable
In the face of more and tighter server security these days, I wonder if there's any reason these (and other) folders can't be 755 right out of the box? Or changed to 755 automatically? Or at least a notice pop up during install to tell us to manually change the perms?

Re: [solved]Tinymce unavailable
Oh thank you thank you thank you. Was pulling my hair out over this one, esp when I figured that FCKeditor wasn't going to play nicely with CMSMS1.5.2 and none of the other wysiwyg editors seemed up to date.
Seriously, I'd really suggest that admins be prompted to change perms to 0755 after install (perhaps the same way we're reminded to delete the install dir etc?).

My server sets all folders to 755 as soon as FTP is complete...

Re: [solved]Tinymce unavailable
One additional note I found - I reset modules to 755, then to 555 with no luck. Clearing cache, no luck. Finally uninstalled TinyMCE in the modules pages, reinstalled and then cleared the cache. That worked! Hope this tidbit helps someone out too. Thanks for heading me down the right path!
