affiliate module
affiliate module
hello...
I came across this CMS, and it seems very nice and simple,
it allows me to do what I want.... but I would need a module
similar to a "affiliate" where I can manage people working for me
is there any current module that can help me....
thanks...

Re: affiliate module
I don't know if there is something specific to what you want, but you might want to browse through the existing modules anyway just to see if there is something you can retrofit for that purpose.

Re: affiliate module
Hi Adam,
in moment there is not a real module for an affiliate program. Only a banner programm.
But it's also very simple to include an existing stand alone affiliate script like post affiliate to CMS made simple with Pi_iframe. The script will called in an iframe.

Re: affiliate module
hello...
thanks for the replies... I was away for a while so could not post anything..
well basicly I need to be able to manage the affiliates (eg. name, username, password)
I had thought of using the iframe because I do have an affiliate script right now.. but using a single control panel will be better i guess....
I came across the module "Self Registration" and was wondering if this would be a werid sort of answer... I can remove the register link from the main page ... and the admin can only add users...
thus ... the admin can also edit and delete accounts...
any advice ??
thanks

Re: affiliate module
Just to correct Patricia a bit.
The FrontEndUsers module does not currently allow you to add people to the backend.
That code hasn't been written (yet).
Sorry to get your hopes up.

Re: affiliate module
SelfRegistration, just incase your a bit confused is a module to allow users to register 'emselves, and add their information into FrontEndUsers
FrontEndUsers, in combination with CustomContent is what allows different cuontent to be displayed to members of different groups, logged in vs. logged out users, etc.
FrontEndUsers has "some" management featurs, but not may, there aren't any permissions as there is no backend integration at this time. But you can add users, delete users, change their group memberships, etc.

Re: affiliate module
hey,
I finally got the time to install some modules and test them,
i just noticed that the Self Registration Module only allows for the creation of templates
but there is no real management invloved...
as for the Frontend User Managment Module, it seems like what I would want, only that
it doesn't support the add groups feature, in turn i can't add users...
the Statistics Module, seems nice but very time it only displays HITS - 0, even when I load the
main page many times,
well, hmm.. can't do much until the new realease for the Frontend User Managment Module comes out...
thanks again,

Re: affiliate module
questions:
a) what do you mean by "no real management involved" with respect to the self registration module. agreed there could be better ways to handle the users that are sitting in the selfreg module without completing the registration process I'll work on that.
b) I don't understand what you mean about "doesn't support the add groups feature". I've been deeply involved in feusers for the past couple of days now, and can create frontend groups all I want. If you can't, maybe you don't have the appropriate permissions, as the feusers module uses the "modify groups" permission from the backend to see if you can add groups, etc.
I've been adding tonnes of functionality to the frontend users module of late. it's getting better all the time, drop me a line with a suggestion, or put it into the tracker for feusers on the forge, and I'll see what I can do.

Re: affiliate module
hmm...
sorry maybe what I said seemed a bit strong...
now that I have did a bit of looking around, I noticed that I was jus ignorant,
the Self Registration Module is sort of an extension for the FrontEndUsers module, I thought
it was independent, so basicly it leaves all the management functions to the FrontEndUsers module,
for the (b), I couldn't add groups because I had not added any properties, now I can make groups
but I cannot add any users,
it states "Membership in at least one group is required" even when I check one group...
plus if you could jus let me know what does "prompt" in properties mean...
I didn't mean to offend your work... it is very user-friendly, and i really appreciate it...

Re: affiliate module
No offense taken.
Yes, SelfReg is just an extension to feusers to allow for online regestration.
The Prompt in properties is the label that is presented to users when changing settings, etc. the field name is used for internal purposes.
You're the second person to get that "membership in atleast one group is requried" message. though I couldn't reprodcue it with the svn version of feusers last night.
Hmmm.
