Editing templates via ftp?

Hi there,

Now, I'm pretty used to copy/pasting my code back and forth with all the time I'm using in CMS-systems and I came to think, if it'd be possible to export templates in some way to allow direct ftp-editing.

Nowadays you're able to speed up the process by quite a bit by editing directly online with your favorite code-program.

There was an old thread about it but any new ways/ideas?
