CMSMS & Camtasia
CMSMS & Camtasia
Hallo;

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Sorry, I thought it was the german forum.
At first many thanks to the developers of CMSMS and the helpful users on the forum.
Recently I built my website with CMSMS (had a static one before made with Namo). All went well and its really fun to work with CMSMS but one problem remains:
On my old website I had a couple of video tutorials made with Camtasia Studio 5. It worked fine and it works fine with CMSMS too if I run it on my local server (with xammp). Online I see an empty window with the white frame of the video and right mouseclick shows "film not loaded" (don't know if it is right in english since I have a german version).
If I wrap areas with {} by {literal} and {/literal} only the Camtasia logo appears but the video doesn't.
I already searched the forum and found some threads with similar problems but didn't come a step forward until know.
Thanks in advance.

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Hi ukm,
what kind are these videos... are they flash? How do you embed them? Can you post the code of how you embed it?
I do not yet know if I can help, but knowing your embedding syle will surely provide a start

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Hello nhaack;
thanks for quick response.
These are flash files. Camtasia Studio created a folder (Video1) with the following content for instance (see image attached).
On my site I have an image as a play button on which I applied a link to the "LC1web1.html" so that it should appear on a blank site with the video.
The site appears as intended but the video doesn't show (only when I do that with xampp offline - as already mentioned).

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
I've attached the SystemInfo from my installation of CMSMS: May be it can help finding the problem.

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Does the video work when you call place it somehwre in your server? How did you directly embed the video in the page? At the moment I am not sure what could cause it, but I guess it could have to do with the embedding method.
How do you create the link to the page LC1web1.html?
Are you using XHTML? You could try to use the object tag to embed the video and spare the javascript...
Flash and Javascript are not really my best subjects

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Hello nhaack;
thanks for your patience.
I did nothing special (may be that's the problem). The files needed for the video are all in the same directory (for
instance ../uploads/video1/) and from TinyMCE I created a link to the "LC1web1.html" (see attachment).
It doesn't matter if the link uses javascript popup or not. The result is always the same.
I also tried to put the files for the video into a different directory but without success.
I'll think it over and probably try out other methods.

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
This may be the problem. The "LC1web1.html" is created by Camtasia, so most likely the paths to the files are hardcoded and won't work on your server ...ukm wrote: These are flash files. Camtasia Studio created a folder (Video1) with the following content for instance (see image attached).

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Hello;
With the additional Camtasia files it doesn't work - regardless of the paths settings but with "swfobjects" tag I got it
working.
A little problem now is that I had "pause points" in the video so that the user can read the instructions. This is ignored
now. Only with right click on the video one can reach play/stop.
If you'd like to have a look at the site:
http://www.uk-music.de
The video tutorials are under "software-LC1". Every advise appreciated (may be my english is not so perfect).
Thanks so far for your help.

BTW: Sorry for posting in the wrong forum - unfortunately I saw this too late)

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Hi ukm...
I am sorry, but I don't think I'll be really able to really help you here. However, in your case, I bet the camtasia movie can be embedded differently and without the extra load. I worked a lot with the competetive product Captivate. I could just take the main SWF and regularly embed it... probably this is a much more convenient way to embed with CMSMS... drop all the surrounding stuff... you can also embed flash much easier with the XHTML object tag... and for this direct purpose... the even is a CMS plugin...
if you google for camtasia and "XHTML embed" you should come across many solutions... you will have to dig a little into the matter as a trade-in... but imho you gain a lot more.
Hope it helps

Re: CMSMS & Camtasia
Hello nhaack;
with "swfobjects" it works in IE, Firefox and Opera (at least here - so far I have tested).
May be it's not the optimum solution but I'll probably don't have much time for the rest of the week because of my regular job. Thanks for your help.
