Navigation lists

Hi:

I'm using cmsms 1.4.1 spring garden.

I've split the navigation 3 ways:
the main nav {menu template='simple_navigation.tpl' number_of_levels='1'}
2nd level nav  {menu template='simple_navigation.tpl' start_level="2" show_root_siblings="1" number_of_levels="1"}
3rd level nav {menu template='simple_navigation.tpl' start_level='3'}

I would like the 3rd level nav to display in columns so as to make the list more managable and easier to read.  alternatively, it can list the items in block of 20 with links to the next 20 in this format:

page 1 2 3 >> where 1= list items 1-20, 2= list items 21-30 and so on.

If someone has done something similar, detailed steps would be appreciated as I'm not a great coder.

Hi:

I'm still waiting to get a reply on my question.  if this has been asked and answered please point in the right direction. 

I just want to split a long list of pages into groups, with a link to the next group, or into columns 2-3 columns, to avoid scrolling endlessly down the page.

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.
