Hi,
I need to build as basic Intranet system for one of my clients.
Do you think CMSMS is up to it? i have installed 1.41 but am having problems with the Frontend user management, as it won't allow me to add users, except by importing, which still doesn't seem to work.
The system needs to be simple and almost foolproof; any suggestions?
thanks,
pwg
CMSMS as a basic Intranet?
Re: CMSMS as a basic Intranet?
Hello,
Are there 10 or 1000 users ? what are they expecting ? Your project seems in need of some scoping/framing.
BTW, yes, FEU and CC may be needed, and Uploads, as Company Directory or the LDAP tricks/patches. But these are implementation details.

I can't think so : I don't know what a "basic Intranet system" is for your customer. Without a feature set I can't see if features match.pwg wrote: I need to build as basic Intranet system for one of my clients. Do you think CMSMS is up to it?

"almost foolproof"
This throws up a red flag for me. I find that many things I need to do in CMSMS require some tweaking, adjusting, or otherwise altering the existing structure. It is not the most stable or feature-rich CMS out there (although it has made big strides in the three years or so that I've worked with it). I'm not saying that it's no good - far from it. It's the CMS I use most of the time when I'm not coding a site from scratch. But I wouldn't call it mature yet.
While CMSMS may ultimately be capable of doing what you want, I have a feeling you and your client may both be happier in the long run if you choose a different CMS.

Again I would like to stress on the feature set : any project that matches the core features set can rely on the core to provide a robust platform without the need of tweaks/altering/patching.jmcgin51 wrote: ...CMSMS require some tweaking, adjusting, or otherwise altering the existing structure.... Any project that want to rely on a deprecated, unmaintained, bad quality, third party module exposes itself to trouble.
We should pay attention to module selection.
