Mambo sucks, that's why I am here.
Now they call it Joomla, but it still sucks!

hey Pirato, appreciate your reply, but can I ask you a favor ??!!
I know I'm being lazy, but how do I install this search function ?? I've been using different mysql/php scripts for a while now, but I'm not an expert, I'm merely a user, not a pro.
Thanks in advance.

Thaaaaaat was only a joke.

The best direct help is to show the help tag of this plugin (it is in english)

You can find a form too to paste it in a template.

It is simple but if you have another questions say it please.

Pisearch is a tag, not a module. It therefore needs to be uploaded to the plugins folder (plugin is now called tag, which may be a bit confusing...). Then it will appear in the Extensions -> Tags list in your admin panel. Then from there read the Help link, as Piratos suggested.

but the help file or article there is about using google for search, not using the search function by Pirato , so now I uploaded the search files (3) to plugins, now what?? what do I need to do or write to get it functioning??
appreciate your help

Well, {search} is another tag, as you say, using Google search. Piratos' search tag is called pisearch. If you have uploaded the file function.pisearch.php to the /plugins folder it should appear in the list of tags.

In the Help you will read that the other two files, that are template files, should be uploaded to the folder tmp/templates.

Hope that helps. :)

Nothing bad about PiSearch but for the average n00b CMS user having to paste and create a complete form into the template is a barrier (I know I was a little reluctant to even try it).
Why not have a standard {search} Smarty tag that instead of a Google search field give the user a search field that browses the database ?

Google is not a real site search option to most and Pisearch works but is "cumbersome" to get working so feels like not finished for the average no nothing about html and forms user.

And everybody will probably agree with me that a working site search is a MUST on a CMS that normally grows larger every day.

Hi Spkecity,

There will be an integrated search feature in CMSMS 1.0, although the release of that version is postponed.

Hi Westin,

I never wrote I was in a hurry to get it tomorrow ;)
I know from experience in Open Source projects that deadlines are a virtual killer as developers normally do have a normal, hectic and social live outside coding, so I will be the last one to push you guys.
As I wrote to Ted, beter a good release then fast one that needs a lot of patching.

Search will be done as a module, most likely coded for a CMSMS 0.14 release.  There are some necessary changes under the hood that should be done for it to work correctly and it's WAY too late in the beta cycle to even think about them.

So, hopefully in about 8-10 weeks we'll be looking at a fully working search...

Piratos has mas made a module of pisearch, that supposedly also searches news articles (don't know about searching other modules, the project has just been approved).

Visible Parts of content and News (if one is activ and in time).

Other wishes ?

I need translations of the plugin pisearch template , because with the module it is controlled with the language name (en_US, de_DE etc.).

The templates are stored with the install. If i have more templates in other languages it is better for the start of the new module.

I have 14 days time because in june i have to spend a lot of time with custumers. Need quick replys.
