Definitions

There are always a number of things that newbies have problems with, and one of those is with the use of terms they don't understand.  In most situations, the real problem is a lack of clear definitions in simple language.

I suggest a section of the documentation, or just of the web site in general, that contains a glossary.  In it the user would find all the terms used in the CMS by the developers.  Obviously, the definitions would need to be carefully considered by the developers to make sure they really describe the developers' own use of a given term.

If one may think that such a glossary isn't necessary, please consider the confusing usage of template, theme, theme manager, template manager, etc..  One might even include the use of stylesheets as even the use of this term may be slightly different than the standard usage in the industry.

This is what I've learned so far:  Normally, we come to understand that a web page is made up of code, as defined by the W3C, and that code contains the actual text and/or images (major content) we desire to display on our web page.  The layout, or "theme", of the page is usually defined currently by the use of CSS.  One may develop a standard template for the layout of the text and/or images on a page.  In that case, a template is a set of code work, ready to accept the major content.  I suppose one could argue that a template may be expanded to include the theme, or CSS code, as well.

To show how this is confusing is the usage of the Documentation's table of contents tree to show only the content and layout sections.  I'm not sure that usage of the terms, along with their included topics of instructions, are consistent.

And isn't a theme a type of extension?

Oh, well.  Just my two cents worth.

As always, I wish to thank and encourage all the fine people contributing to the effort.
