Idylwood.org Civic Club proudly running on CMSMS

Post by pixelita »

This web site has been inherited by me and was flat HTML files when I got it. We wanted the Civic Club directors (president, newsletter editor, secretary, etc.) to be able to login and post articles and upload files).  We tried Drupal, ugh. Its nodes were hard for even me, a veteran web designer, to wrap my mind around, let alone the directors. And Drupal would for some reason wig out and give a lot of file permission errors making the site and some of the modules inaccessible. Needless to say we were all very frustrated.

I converted the site to CMSMS, and am running the Calendar/Events module, Front End Users (uploads), Bookmarks and Photo Gallery modules.  Thanks to some great help on this forum, we've got the main newsbox on the sidebar, and two boxes on the front page that feature items from the "Feature" and "Events" news categories.

The directors are pleased, especially with the WYSIWYG editor and the ease with which they can upload files.  And it's made my life easier as the club's web master.  It's not heavily customized design-wise, because I just wanted to get it into a condition where it could be used by the group.  We'll redesign it a bit later.  :)
