1.4.1 trouble logging into admin

Post by skim1114 »

I just moved my CMSMS site from a development server to a new server. This is the first time I am uploading 1.4.1 so I'm not sure if this issue is specific to this.

When I go to the admin page, I can't login using the correct info. I don't get a warning, it just refreshes the admin page. I have no idea how to login at this point. The front end of the site is viewing correctly either.

Can I downgrade to something that may work like 1.3? I need to launch the site soon, it's sitting there broken and I've never dealt with this issue before and I've moved several sites from a dev server so I have the process down. I can't figure out what it could be. I've even tried to reinstall.

Let me know if you need more info. My client is using iPower for hosting, not sure if that could be the issue.

Oh...and the front end isn't displaying menus...not sure if it's a related issue, but maybe that helps with something.

One more thing...I have tried to login in firefox and safari and I am getting the same results.

Thanks

Hmm... cmsms ver. 1.1.4 uh no 1.4.1, hosting is IPower, done this before, tried reinstall,, no menus on front end, hmmm...

What are we missing...

Which ver. cmsms really, and is it the same as you started with on dev. server?...

Does the host meet the needs of cmsms in all respects?...

How did you do it, the move that is?...

Did you check to make sure all the config.php paths were correct...

Have you tried to do a fresh/clean install in a new DB in another subfolder to see how paths etc. were created on a working example of this server?...

When you tried reinstall did you create new tables in DB or insert default templates/etc.?...

When trying reinstall did you get any warning, yellow flags or red ones or were they all green?...

No menus on front end but what do you see on front end, and since it's live, on a server, why no link to see?...

Thanks for the quick response. Here are the answers to the questions you asked:

Which ver. cmsms really, and is it the same as you started with on dev. server?...
I definitely meant 1.4.1. and it is the same as when I started on the dev server. Oh no...so this is what I needed to do. I just plain started with 1.4.1 on the dev server, worked fine. Then when I went to move it to the new host, I was getting an error. So, I uploaded 1.3.1 to install then upgraded the files to 1.4.1. That seems like an issue now that I think about it. I didn't know how to resolve that error I was getting and there was only one post about it with no solution. This was the error:
"SESSION not working, you have problem with some modules and functionality! Ask your provider, exiting "

Does the host meet the needs of cmsms in all respects?...
I think so.

How did you do it, the move that is?...
I put the 1.4.1 files on the new server. Exported my old database. Imported the database to the new server. Unchecked the last 2 boxes at the end of the install so as not to overwrite the database. Then moved over my images and uploads.

Did you check to make sure all the config.php paths were correct...
Yes. They were correct.

Have you tried to do a fresh/clean install in a new DB in another subfolder to see how paths etc. were created on a working example of this server?...
I haven't does this yet. I will try this and I will try to move this to another space on my dev server. If I am still getting the errors, I think I can assume it's the host.

When you tried reinstall did you create new tables in DB or insert default templates/etc.?...
unchecked.

When trying reinstall did you get any warning, yellow flags or red ones or were they all green?...
the only yellow warning I got was the one about file upload which I sometimes get anyway and I resolve later but usually isn't an issue.

No menus on front end but what do you see on front end, and since it's live, on a server, why no link to see?...
I see everything that the site has except the menus. Odd. I can get to each page using a url. The modules don't work either. I think I only use one which is the photo album.

I got tired last night, so I will try another install someplace else today to see what I get. It could be a server issue.
Thanks.

Hello,

your previous post isn't easy to read for me.

Can you rerun the 1.4.1 install wizard on the new host (with "Unchecked the last 2 boxes at the end of the install so as not to overwrite the database") and report all warnings and errors ?
Then may be retry agin once more with install/index.php?debug=1 and http logS monitoring ?
