Which version to download

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Which version to download

Post by dssquirt »

Hello all.

I am brand new to CMS Simple.  I am confused on which version to download.  Do I start with the newest version?  And if so, it looks like I need to download a language file too?  Which one is the English language?

Sorry, I am really confused on which version to start with.  I've read the installation instructions and those make sense.  Now, if I could just figure out where to even begin.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome!
I'm also quite new and unexperienced but I'm happy to be able to help at least one person here!
So you can download 1.4.1 here. It's english default installation. If you prefer something else, you also download the appropriate langage pack.
Unzip on local or server and follow instructions.
Good luck!

Hello dssquirt,

welcome as well...

As Mel described, the default package contains only the English language, all other languages are available as seperate packages.... There is a full package available as well, including all languages. So when upgrading from earlier releases (which was allways the full package) it would be wise to upgrade using the full pack again, to have all the language-packs up-to-date again. When installing a new environment, just pick what you need, and install. On upgrades, you will have to transfer less files, as you wont transfer all the language-files for every CORE-module as well, while not using them.
