Implementing CMSMS for online magazine - how to archive/publish content?

Post by ITistic »

I am proposing the integration of CMSMS for one of our clients. They publish a local community magazine and are going to be placing a lot of the content on their web site as well. Here are two requirements which I can't seem to find a solution for:
  • Need the ability to modify a specific page (the home page) but not have it take effect until a specific date. As the new magazine issue is being designed the web site editor will need to create the new home page and other pages to match the new printed issue. They will be doing this ahead of time, however, and wouldn't want their changes to show until the publish date of the magazine. Is there anyway I can achieve this? I'd thought about having them create new pages for each issue but then a lot of the internal links will point to old pages from previous issues.
  • In addition to the above, the entire web site needs to be archived when the new issue is published. This way they can show the archived versions of the web site to their visitors and allow their visitors to search the archive.
.. Any ideas?

Sounds like the perfect candidate for News, you can run the whole site with news and just have the news tag in the pages using categories and expiration date and the archive feature you will be set...
