Help altering nav menu text?

Hi all, I'm currently ploughing my way through my first CMSMS site and was looking for some advice on styling the menu.

I'm trying to achieve what I've shown in the images; Menu-1 and Menu-2.

I think I can achieve "Menu1" using an extra contact block - does this seem like the best way to achieve this?

"Menu2" - this is where I'm having the most trouble. I basically want half of the menu-text to be yellow and the rest white. Normally I'd just wrap the second half in a and style it, but I can't find a way to do this. Can anybody shed any light on this? Is it possible?
