'Update' functionality for CMS Made Simple

Post by sjmann »

Hey peeps,

I've been using CMSMS for a while now and I think I've got the hang of it. It's a great tool for building fast interactive websites.

Recently however I have been considering other possibilities for using the system and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or musings on the topic.

I wish to make a prototype of a game idea I've come up with. The game idea is similar to games such as Ikariam, Imperium Nova or... Neopets (*shiver*). I have the basic framework of how the game will work on CMSMS, broken down into variables, such as Cash, Rating, Happiness, etc. but the main stumbling block is that the data and variables will need to change over time, or update.

I was wondering how something such as this could be done using CMSMS; perhaps via a .php script of some kind. However, while I have used php for a while I've never had the need to code something like this and any help or advice would be really appreciated.

If I get help and reach a resolution I'd be more than happy to share my knowledge back into the community by writing a tutorial or a guide on how to do a similar thing.

Cheers,

Simon.
