I'm running 1.2.4. on a bunch of sites shortly to upgrade to 1.3
One of the groups I worked with asked me to change the default for their new pages so that the "active" box was unticked. This means they don't "accidentally" publish and by default produce draft pages that they then have to physically go and make active.
I would like to take this a stage further and have one user group able to create these draft pages but unable to tick the box to make a page active. For example this user group would be Children.
The next usergroup for instance Teachers would review their work and upon finding it appropriate (or not) tick the active box to publish the page (or not).
I've found that this functionality exists in the NEWS module but I cant find away of stopping a group from publishing pages. Can this be done? - a hack perhaps or a module.
If this functionality does not currently exist it would be a very useful function to add in future.
Editorial control over subeditors
Re: Editorial control over subeditors
i dunno what all it will entail, but "workflow/content approval" is on the roadmap for 2.0
eternity (n); 1. infinite time, 2. a seemingly long or endless time, 3. the length of time it takes a frozen pizza to cook when you're starving.
4,930,000,000 (n); 1. a very large number, 2. the approximate world population in 1986 when Microsoft Corp issued its IPO. 3. Microsoft's net profit (USD) for the quarter (3 months) ending 31 March 2007.

Hello,
Pierre M.
with 1.3 you can combine a tuning UDT with a page creation event. Search (with Google) recent other post featuring "UDT" and "event".Steve_T wrote: a hack perhaps

Re: Editorial control over subeditors
Hi,
I've just found this thread and have a very similar problem. I need to allow a user/group to edit content but not allow them to have it published onto the site. This would be done by another user/group, editors etc.
I've tried searching for UDT + event both in this forum and using google, but have found no solutions to this problem? Can you point me in the right direction??
Many Thanks,
James

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 562.0.html elaborates on the event+UDT topic. It is about user creation and not page creation/edit but an be modified to your needs. There is another event+UDT thread with a mail send when content is submitted.
