FCKeditorX 1.1.0 Problems

Post by timconstan »

I upgraded to FCKeditorX 1.1.0 and now my styles aren't showing up in the styles drop-down.

Also, when I open a page to edit content in Firefox - I get nothing where the editor should be.  I'm getting this error in Firefox: "FCKLang is not defined".

I'm using CMS Made Simple 1.2.3

Upgrade your CMSMS to version 1.2.5 . Likely it will not solve problem with FCK, but your server will be more secure definitely. :)

FCKEditor is an out dated non supported module at this point...

What do you need from it that tiny can't handle?...

Internal links feature: That is a very handy feature for people that I train. I think FCK is 10 time better than Tiny personally but that's my opinion. I also love the larger real estate and the source view is a lot more seemless and smooth with no popup.

I agree with Jack, andI just think FCKeditorX had a more polished look than Tiny.

But, if it's out dated and non supported, I guess that answers my questions.

The latest tiny has an improved internal link, and has the option to turn the wysiwyg off/on, at the bottom but you have to set that option in the tiny interface, which renders the edit area into a plain html view, no popup, it's one of my favorite features...

I switched from FCKEditor a long time ago as I was having a problem of it seeming to never finish loading if I had more than 1 content edit box in a template, I could make changes and apply them but the spinner up top in the browser and the load bar at the bottom kept going...

Hi Mark, I've been using a hacked together update of the FCKeditor and it seems to work quite well apart from when you have CMSMS tags.modules e.g. {module} which you would have to surround with {module}. How does Tiny do with this and can the new Tiny handle No JS in code. It didn't before?

Secondly what about spell checkers?

One of my customers loves FCKEditorX and ... does not likeTinyMCE for some reason so we needed to stick with that for them. 1.0.3 was the one they we're using but occationally it was causing "pages with several editor do not download completely" problems. After upgrade to 1.1.0 we noticed styles missing from editor windows and styles dropdown menu. Spending some time looking for the problem we decided to give 1.0.3 another go. For some strange reason everything worked perfectly. I believe this was eighter bug in Firefox that has been fixed, or somewhere else ... or several open windows with FCKeditorX open is causing the problem.

Unless you need some features from 1.1.0 try going back 1.0.3 or whatever worked for you.
